Parent Workshops

SOS!SEN runs regular hands on training sessions to help parents on topics such as how to appeal an EHC Plan or how to prepare for a Tribunal hearing.  We also run Topic Workshops  ( see "Topic Workshops" tab) 

Donations: We are an independent charity and rely on donations through our workshops, 1:1 meetings, fundraising events, and our children’s charity shop in Hampton Hill . This allows us to give you impartial and legally based advice.

Tuesday 13th September

Appeals against the contents of an EHC plan – parts to appeal & how

led by Eleanor Wright

Time: 9.30am to 4pm - to include a sandwich lunch

This workshop is suitable for parents and young people issued with an EHCP following assessment or amendment or following transfer from a statement. It will cover how to appeal with tips on drafting appeal grounds, and will deal with tribunal procedure and strategy.

Navigating the EHC plan process

This workshop is suitable for people who want to learn about the whole process; from requesting an assessment through to the final EHC plan. It will include the contents of an EHCP and transitions from statement to EHCP’s and useful for people applying for an EHCP.

What every parent should know about EHC plans

This workshop is suitable for people wanting to know more about the contents of the Education, Health, Care plan and where evidence should be located. It also includes how to enforce an EHCP.
Please note that this workshop concentrates on the EHC plan only.

Saturday 15th October

16+ and 18+ transfer and the rights of the young person

This workshop is for parents/carers or young people aged 16+/18+ who are likely to transfer to an Education, Health, Care plan or people who are beginning the process and haven’t had a statement before. It will cover the process, choosing the right placement, and information on appealing.
