Ways to support us

We run a small charity, and want to offer as much support as we can, to as many parents as we can. Particularly those on low income and who cannot afford legal advice.

Our services are a lifeline to so many parents and we keep our costs to a minimum. We want to make sure our helpline and advice centres are open, and we can support parents with workshops, annual review advice, documentation for appeals and Tribunals. Our office team are key.

We were severely impacted during the pandemic lockdown when we were not able to run our workshops for example nor open our charity shop which is so fundamental to keep our charity running smoothly. So we rely on donations and the fees we charge for our services.

There are many ways you can support SOS!SEN and we are so grateful for any donations. No amount is too small.

Charity Shop

Our SOS!SEN Charity Shop is a key part of our fundraising efforts.

It has a great range of quality adult and children’s clothes, designer clothes, books, toys and games, trikes, bikes, scooters, buggies, pushchairs, prams and cots.

All items are cleaned, checked and complete. Just ask our knowledgeable staff. We are only happy to sell items that we ourselves would be happy to buy.

Donations always needed

We love receiving your donations – they are what make our shop great. We are always in need of good quality clothes, toys, books, equipment, furniture, pushchairs, maternity wear, and more.

Old clothes, shoes, belts and bags that don’t quite make the grade can still generate funds through recycling.

Looking for something special?

If you are searching for a particular item, such as nursery equipment or a specific toy, we will take your details, keep them on file for 8 weeks, and contact you if your request is donated.

Other ways to support us

SOS!SEN is a charity whose work depends upon the dedication and enthusiasm of its volunteers. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do.

If you feel like we do, and want to support us, why not join us as a volunteer?

We recognise that everyone’s time is limited, but also know that by giving just a little time each week or month, everyone can do something so very worthwhile and so many children and families really benefit.

Helping at our shop

We can’t run the shops without our volunteers, so if you have a few hours to spare each week and would like to join a friendly, lively bunch of people, then please let us know. Why not call Debbie on 07821 917456 if you would like to help in our Worcester Park shop, in Surrey.

Other ways you can help.

We have regular training meetings for all our volunteers

  • One half day per week on the Helpline. Calls are diverted so you can take calls from your own home and training is always provided.
  • One half day per month helping at an advice centre.
  • Accompanying another parent as a “friend” to a meeting with the local authority or the school.
  • Acting as a kind helper to a family who really need just that extra little support and encouragement.
  • A few hours each week or month doing some clerical work at our office.
  • Running an event for us – a coffee morning, a Bring and Buy sale, a quiz night, a sponsored walk/run/cycle ride.
  • Helping with refreshments, registrations and preparations on the day at a range of workshops and social events.
